Beth Slovic is a Portland freelance journalist and journalism instructor at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash. Before becoming a full-time teacher in 2018, she worked as a staff writer at Willamette Week, the Oregonian and the Portland Tribune.

Her work also has appeared in Portland Monthly, PDX Parent, the New York Times, the Bozeman (Mont.) Daily Chronicle and the Las Vegas Sun, as well as numerous other publications.

Beth Slovic's news articles have been recognized with awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, Region 10; the Education Writers Association;  the Association of Alternative Newsmedia; and the Parenting Media Association, among other organizations.
